The purpose of this nation is to promote good citizenship. Please avoid Fake News and conspiracy theories. Internet trolls will be banned.
Good Citizens –
We contribute to information that helps citizens make good decisions and deal with demagogues who would delude them. Good citizenship is not just intellectual skills (such as critical thinking), but also participatory skills of deliberating civilly, monitoring the government and leaders, managing conflict peacefully and fairly, and promoting justice and freedoms. Most of all, it is supporting fair elections and increasing voter participation – not suppressing the vote.
Open to All Views per the Honor Code –
We support debate, even heated debate. However, we ask members to avoid Fake News and conspiracy theories, and that they make their case per the Rule of Reason and the reality-based world. This means using evidence such as quotes from credible sources (please provide source and preferably a link) when applicable. You have the right to your own opinions but not your own facts.
What we do not allow:
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion, often for the troll's amusement.
